To care for a dwarf Alberta spruce, provide it with full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Water deeply when the top few inches of soil are dry. For container plants, which need more water, and outdoor plants, prune lightly to maintain shape, and consider using insecticidal soap for spider mites. Protect it from harsh winter winds and heavy snow, especially if in a container.
